Hello, My name is Theresa Joy and I’m the voice behind Yeshua Daily, and an independent researcher. I do not have a formal degree or a prestigious scholarly title. But what I do have is a deep love for compiling factual information and sharing my findings. Being autistic has given me a unique ability to sit for hours and days at a time, hyper focusing, comparing, and analyzing to find the most accurate answers possible. Through this process, I fell in love with the word-for-word, poetic beauty of the Scriptures.
Goal and Mission
The text used throughout this work is Bread of Life Scriptures (BLS) which is an independent translation project I created specifically for a book I plan to put together one day. I used the 1917 Jewish Publication Society (JPS) translation as my foundational text, while consistently returning to the original Hebrew and Greek texts to make my final translation decisions.
My purpose with the BLS is to preserve the incredible depth of the original Scriptures. I do this by restoring the Hebrew four letters of God’s Name, יהוה (YHVH), right within the text, and by preserving the original Hebrew and Greek wordplay, repetitions, and patterns whenever possible.
I’ve also sought to carefully update older, outdated English wording while working hard to preserve the majestic, poetic flow you find in translations like the JPS 1917. The BLS follows a close, word-for-word approach by comparing highly literal texts, including Young’s Literal Translation (YLT), the Julia E. Smith Translation, and the Berean Literal Bible (BLB), while still keeping the sentences understandable for modern readers.
My Research Process and Sources
The text is developed through careful, patient comparison of multiple resources. I use study tools like Bible Hub and Sefaria to examine the original Hebrew and Greek words, their definitions, the grammar, and the unique textual structures.
Rather than relying on just a single translation, I compare various versions to evaluate wording choices, literal accuracy, poetic structure, and modern clarity. These include literal translations like Young’s Literal Translation (YLT), the Julia E. Smith Translation, and the Berean Literal Bible (BLB), along with modern translations like the World English Bible (WEB), Berean Standard Bible (BSB), and Berean Annotated Bible (BAB) when extra comparison helps clear things up.
The final wording of the BLS is chosen through careful study, always seeking to remain completely faithful to the meaning, structure, and style of the original Hebrew and Greek texts.
Translation Priority
The focus of this project is a word-for-word approach, keeping close to the Hebrew and Greek meaning first while considering readability second. I want to preserve the original patterns whenever possible. I only choose modern English wording when it is absolutely necessary to help readers grasp the meaning, and I always try to maintain a poetic, respectful style.
However, translating ancient languages requires a careful balance between literal accuracy and clear communication. When a completely literal rendering becomes confusing or disrupts the true meaning of a passage, I choose a clearer English expression while preserving the original thought and structure as closely as possible.
Handling the Divine Name
The BLS translation takes a deeply reverent, non-dogmatic approach to the Sacred Name of God. In the original Hebrew scrolls, the Creator’s personal name is written using four holy consonants known as the Tetragrammaton:
יהוה (YHVH)
You won’t find a specific spelling used in the text. Instead, the BLS acknowledges the four letters in Hebrew as יהוה (YHVH). I deliberately leave the pronunciation entirely up to your own personal conviction and conscience. Whether you choose to read it silently, replace it with the traditional “LORD,” “ADONAI,” or “HASHEM,” or pronounce a specific name you believe it to be, the BLS preserves the exact placement of the four letters where they originally are found, to honor the beautiful of His Name.
