Today, I want to share with you more about the Creator, the One I’ve come to know, love, and call my God, Elohim. When I first started looking into Scripture more deeply for myself and studying who He is, I began to discover a God I never really knew before. And yet, He had been right there in the Bible this whole time.
In this series, The Creator, I want to share who He truly is. This is just the introduction, in the next six posts, we will look at His character, His Name, and His nature in detail. From the Beginning
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
Genesis 1:1
The beginning of Scripture, we see Him as the Creator of everything. Not just part of creation, but the One who brought everything into existence, from the heavens, the earth, and life itself. He’s not created or limited. Instead, He reveals Himself as the One who simply is, before anything else existed.
God is Eternal
Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.
Psalm 90:2
God was not created, because He does not have a beginning or an end. Everything in creation has a starting point of being created and given life, including us. But the Creator is different, because before anything ever existed, He already was. Scripture reveals God as the One who was already there before creation itself. Nothing had brought Him into existence. Instead, He is the One who brings everything else into existence.
The One True God
Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, The LORD is one.
Deuteronomy 6:4
This is one of the most important things we need to understand about God. Because with so many different beliefs and ideas out there, it’s easy to get confused about who He is and end up seeing Him in a way that doesn’t match what Scripture actually says. For most of my life, I didn’t really understand this clearly. But Scripture is very clear that Yehovah is one God who is complete, unified, and not divided among other gods or beings.
The Eternal Name: יהוה

This is My name forever, and this is My memorial to all generations.
Exodus 3:15
For a long time, I thought calling the Creator by God was His name. It wasn’t until later in my walk that I learned He actually has a Name. The word God is actually a title and not a name. Did you know God had a name? I personally call Him Yehovah, as I believe it is the closest to His name.
The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob
And He said, I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob
Exodus 3:6
Throughout Scripture, He introduces Himself as the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (Exodus 3:6). These were people who walked with God, struggled, trusted, and experienced His faithfulness. We see a God who remembers, who keeps His promises, and who builds relationships across generations. When we open the Scriptures, we are seeing the story of a faithful Father, The Creator our God, who has been working through history and keeping His covenant from generation to generation.
